To take part, a candidate must have qualified the national undergraduate medical entrance test for that year by securing at least the qualifying percentile prescribed for the candidate's category by the examination authority, since merely appearing in the test is not enough. The candidate must also have passed Class 12 or an equivalent examination with the science subject combination prescribed for medical admission, including physics, chemistry and biology or biotechnology along with English. In addition, the state's own conditions on nativity, residence and category or community claims must be satisfied, and the relevant certificates must be produced during verification. The minimum marks in the qualifying examination, the age condition, community and reservation rules and the documents required are stated in the official prospectus issued for that admission year.
