On October 22, 2026, Algoma University is proudly celebrating The Stone Family as this year’s Honouree at the 2026 John R. Rhodes Scholarship Dinner & Art Auction.
This is the most prestigious scholarship offered at Algoma University and is awarded to a high school graduate who embodies the integrity, leadership, and commitment to community service demonstrated by Rhodes throughout his life as a broadcaster, community member, and politician. Funds from the Algoma University John R. Rhodes Scholarship Dinner add to an endowment to keep this award living in John R. Rhodes’ memory forever.
Algoma University hosted the landmark 20th Annual Gathering at the Rapids Pow Wow on Saturday, February 14 and Sunday, February 15, 2026, at GFL Memorial Gardens in Sault Ste. Marie. This milestone event marked two decades of celebrating Anishinaabe culture, education, and community, and drew an unprecedented number of participants and visitors.
