The One Big Beautiful Bill Act, also known as the Working Families Tax Cuts Act or OBBBA, changed several federal financial aid programs beginning July 1, 2026.
The changes may affect federal student and parent loan limits, Graduate PLUS Loan eligibility, Pell Grant eligibility and the amount students may borrow while enrolled less than full time. The effect will vary based on the student’s program, enrollment level and federal borrowing history.
