The selection assessment is built around visual and spatial thinking, observation, drawing and sketching ability, reasoning and general awareness, together with the written expression expected of a design student, and parts of it may be conducted online or at the campus depending on the arrangements announced for the year. For the undergraduate architecture programme the university follows the regulatory requirement of a recognised aptitude test in architecture in addition to its own process, while its other undergraduate programmes in design, planning, technology and habitat studies follow the university's own assessment and interview. Results are used only for admission to the university's own faculties in Ahmedabad, and each programme announces its intake and the weightage it gives to the assessment, the qualifying examination result and any interview. The format, components, dates and weightage for a cycle are given in the official admission notification. The assessment is expected in May 2026.
