Overview

The test is normally a written objective paper of multiple choice questions carried out in a single sitting. At undergraduate level the question paper draws on school science, mainly biology, chemistry, physics and agriculture as taught in class 11 and class 12; at postgraduate level it draws on the graduate horticulture and agriculture syllabus, covering crop production, soil and plant nutrition, plant protection, breeding, and post-harvest handling. Marks are awarded per correct answer and a negative marking rule may apply, so candidates should read the information brochure carefully. Ranks from the test feed into counselling for seats in horticulture faculties of state agricultural and horticultural universities and their affiliated colleges. Because the conducting body differs by state, candidates must follow the official notification of the university they are applying to.
