NIT MCA Common Entrance Test

The test is computer based and objective, and the areas assessed generally include mathematics at the higher secondary and undergraduate level, analytical ability and logical reasoning, computer awareness covering basic computer concepts and data representation, and general English including comprehension and usage. Negative marking normally applies. The mathematics section carries the largest weight, which is why an undergraduate background including mathematics matters. After the result, the conducting institute publishes a rank list and opens online counselling with registration, choice filling, several rounds of seat allotment, document verification and reporting to the allotted institute, with vacant seats filled in later rounds. The list of participating institutes can change from year to year, so it should be checked afresh. The number of questions, the sectional split, the duration, the marking scheme and the detailed syllabus are published in the information brochure released with each notification.
