Overview

The test is an objective paper designed to check a candidate's grounding in law and general legal awareness along with reasoning and comprehension, with the exact pattern, number of questions, marking scheme and duration set out in the admission notification for each programme. Separate papers or sections may be prescribed for the master degree in law and for the various postgraduate diploma courses, since these draw applicants from different academic backgrounds. Results feed a merit list used for admission to the institute's programmes at its Delhi campus, some of which are offered in regular mode and others through distance or online learning. Candidates apply directly through the institute's website. Programme lists, the application window, the test centre arrangement and the final admission procedure are all published in the official Indian Law Institute admission notification.
