JIPMER runs a large teaching hospital along with undergraduate, postgraduate, super speciality, nursing, allied health and doctoral programmes, and it also carries out clinical and public health research. For MBBS, candidates appear in NEET UG, and seats at the institute are filled centrally in the all India counselling rounds along with the other institutes of national importance. For MD, MS and DM or MCh level courses, candidates appear in INI-CET, which is held twice a year, and take part in the counselling conducted for the participating institutes. Nursing, allied health and other courses may have separate admission notices issued by the institute itself. Because the older institute specific papers no longer exist, older question patterns and syllabi circulating for JIPMER MBBS or JIPMER PG entrance are obsolete. Candidates should follow the notifications issued by the National Testing Agency, the Medical Counselling Committee and the institute for the current route.
