MAHARASHTRA COMMON ENTRANCE TEST LAW

The paper is a computer-based objective test covering legal aptitude and legal reasoning, general knowledge with current affairs, logical and analytical reasoning, English language and comprehension, and, for the five-year test, a basic mathematics or numerical ability component. It assumes no prior study of law: the legal aptitude section presents principles and facts and asks the candidate to apply them. The marking scheme and the weight given to each section are set out in the information brochure published before the test. Ranks from the examination feed into the centralised admission process operated by the State Common Entrance Test Cell for LLB seats across government law colleges, university departments and private law colleges in Maharashtra, including rounds of choice filling, seat allotment and reporting. The number of questions, duration, syllabus and admission schedule are notified afresh each year and should be checked in the current brochure.
