About this Scholarship
The Asia Leadership Fellow Program (ALFP) is an international scholarship for Indian students and professionals who want to join a cross-sector network of Asian public intellectuals. Launched in 1996 by the International House of Japan and the Japan Foundation, the ALFP brings together fellows from diverse backgrounds to live and work in Tokyo. Over the past decades, more than 120 fellows from 17 Asian countries have participated, exchanging ideas across fields such as academia, media, business, and civil society.
The program fosters critical dialogue aimed at shaping new regional norms and value-orientations for Asia and beyond.
Eligibility Criteria
Open to Indian citizens at all academic and professional levels. Applicants should demonstrate a commitment to public engagement and cross-cultural exchange. The selection committee looks for candidates whose work addresses social, cultural, or policy challenges relevant to Asia.
There are no strict income or mark requirements; instead, the focus is on the applicant’s potential to contribute to the fellowship’s goals.
