BITS Pilani

BITS Pilani offers scholarships to nearly 30% of its students. These are based on academic merit, BITSAT performance, financial need, and special categories like physically challenged students and board toppers. Scholarships are typically awarded each semester and can be renewed if you maintain good academic performance and conduct.

Scholarships are available for both new and continuing students in first degree programs. For new students, awards are based on Class 12 and BITSAT scores. For continuing students, they are based on the current year CGPA.

Scholarship schemes

• BITSAT Merit Award – Top 2%: For students ranked in the top 2% of BITSAT scorers. Continuing students qualify based on semester CGPA. Benefit: 100% tuition fee waiver.
• BITSAT Merit Award – Next Tier: For students ranked 3–5% in BITSAT, or with a CGPA of 9.0 or above at the end of the semester. Benefit: Up to 50% tuition fee waiver.
• Merit-Cum-Need (MCN) Award: Requires a good BITSAT score and family annual income below INR 8 LPA. The top 3% of the eligible MCN pool gets an 80% tuition fee waiver. The next 6% gets a 40% waiver.
• Merit-Cum-Need (MCN) Award – 20%: Requires a good BITSAT score and family annual income below INR 15 LPA. The next 12% of the eligible MCN pool gets a 20% tuition fee waiver.
• Tuition-Blind Scholarship (2026 New Scheme): For the top 500 BITSAT 2026 rankers with family income below INR 20 LPA. You must maintain a minimum CGPA of 7.5. Benefit: 100% tuition fee waiver for all 4 years.
• Alumni-Funded Scholarship (BITSAA): For students with a strong academic record (BITSAT score and CGPA of 8.0 or above) and demonstrated financial need. Benefit: Full 4-year tuition coverage, funded by endowment.
• Women in STEM Scholarship: For high-achieving female students in First Degree programs. Benefit: 100% tuition fee waiver.
• Sports Excellence / NCC Award: For students with representation at the national or state level in sports or NCC, admitted through BITSAT. Benefit: First-semester tuition fee waiver (partial).

How to apply

Merit scholarships (top 2%, etc.) are auto-awarded based on BITSAT scores. The MCN scholarship application window opens after BITSAT results are declared and seat allotment is confirmed.

To apply for the MCN scholarship, you must submit:

• An income certificate (family annual income below INR 8 LPA for 80%/40% waivers, or below INR 15 LPA for 20% waiver)
• The MCN application form available on the admissions portal
• Supporting financial documents

For Class 12 based scholarships, BITS Pilani offers 10% to 40% tuition fee scholarships for the first year, depending on Class 12 marks.
