Overview
The Directorate of Higher and Technical Education (DHTE), Government of Arunachal Pradesh, is responsible for higher and technical education matters in the state. It oversees admission and counselling processes for technical and higher education programmes, including engineering, diploma and selected professional courses.
The name “Directorate of Higher and Technical Education Arunachal” does not refer to a Class 12 board examination. DHTE is an administrative education authority rather than a Class 12 examination board. For the 2026-27 academic session, its admission activities include counselling and nomination for technical education programmes.
For diploma engineering admission in 2026, the Arunachal Pradesh Joint Entrance Examination (APJEE) for diploma programmes was kept in abeyance. The Directorate announced that selection and nomination of eligible candidates for three-year diploma programmes would instead be based on merit in the qualifying examination, such as Class X or Class XII, as applicable.
DHTE also conducts or coordinates online counselling for other programmes. For example, selection for the 2026 PCB-group counselling is based on NEET UG 2026 merit, while diploma admissions use the qualifying examination merit as specified in the relevant admission brochure.
