Overview
BITS HD, or BITS Higher Degree Test, is the computer-based entrance examination used for admission to Higher Degree programmes at BITS Pilani. It is mainly used for admission to M.E. and M.Pharm. programmes for the 2026-27 academic year.
Candidates can be considered for admission through the BITS HD Test or through valid GATE scores for M.E. programmes and GPAT scores for M.Pharm. programmes, depending on the programme and admission route. Some programmes have programme-specific admission rules.
The BITS HD Test is conducted online at designated test centres. Test I is compulsory for candidates applying through the BITS HD Test and contains Core Mathematics and English Language Skills and Logical Reasoning. Most Higher Degree applicants also take Test II, which tests basic subjects from their qualifying discipline. Separate tests are prescribed for M.E. Software Systems and M.E. Environmental Engineering.
The 2026 BITS HD Test was scheduled for May 25 and 26, 2026. The exact test date, time and centre allotted to a candidate are provided through the hall ticket. Admission offers are made through successive iterations based on the applicable admission route and merit.
