CBSE Class 12 Board Exam 2026 Overview
The CBSE Class 12 Board Exams 2026 started on February 17, 2026, and will conclude on April 10, 2026. The first papers were Biotechnology and Entrepreneurship, and the final paper will be Legal Studies.
All exams are held in pen-and-paper mode. The morning session runs from 10:30 AM to 1:30 PM. Entry to the exam hall closed sharply at 10:00 AM.

Exam Pattern
The CBSE Class 12 Exam Pattern 2026 includes 40% competency-based questions, 20% MCQs, and 40% short- and long-answer questions. The exams follow an 80-20 format and a 70-30 format.

Yes, a 16-year-old can give the 12th board exam, as long as they meet the specific eligibility criteria of the board they are applying to. While the CBSE board often cites a minimum age of 17 for the 12th-grade exam, there isn't a strict rule and different boards or regions might have different policies.
Attendance Requirement for CBSE Class 12
If you do not have 75% attendance, you will not be able to take the CBSE exam. Only students with a minimum of 75% attendance are eligible to appear in the CBSE board Class 10 and 12 examinations.
