CBSE Class X Board Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must be studying in class 10 in a school affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education, having been registered by the school in class 9 and having completed the attendance and internal assessment requirements laid down in the examination bye-laws. Schools submit the list of candidates and the examination fee within the notified window, so students apply through their school rather than directly. Private candidates may appear only in the categories the board allows, such as those who failed earlier, those placed in compartment, or those seeking improvement of performance in permitted subjects. The detailed conditions, subject combinations and the number of subjects allowed are given in the official bye-laws and circulars.
