The examination is built on the mathematics and science syllabus studied up to class 10, so questions are drawn from mathematics, physics and chemistry at that standard and are set in objective form to be answered within the time the board prescribes. The paper is conducted at centres in Tripura notified by the board, and the sitting is scheduled for May 2026. A merit list is published after the examination, and admission is completed through counselling conducted by the state technical education authority, in which candidates present their documents, exercise preferences for polytechnic institutions and
diploma branches, and are allotted seats according to merit, category and the reservation rules applied in Tripura, including provisions for scheduled tribe and scheduled caste candidates. Seats covered are the diploma programmes in engineering and technology offered by polytechnics in the state. Syllabus, marking scheme and paper duration are given in the official notification.
