For undergraduate horticulture programmes candidates are generally expected to have passed class 12 or an equivalent examination with science subjects, typically physics, chemistry and biology, or with agriculture as a vocational subject where the university permits it. For postgraduate horticulture programmes a bachelor degree in horticulture, agriculture or an allied discipline from a recognised university is normally required. Domicile or state quota conditions often apply because most horticulture seats belong to state universities.
