Himachal Pradesh Polytechnic Admission Test

When a written test is held, it is an objective, multiple-choice paper drawn from the class 10 level syllabus, typically covering Mathematics, Science and general aptitude, with a state merit list prepared from the scores. When the board opts for merit-based admission, the same merit list is prepared from marks in the qualifying class 10 examination. Either way, the outcome feeds a centralised online counselling process in which candidates register, fill choices of institution and trade, and are allotted seats over successive rounds, with reporting and document verification at the allotted polytechnic. Seats span government polytechnics across the state and participating private institutions. Reservation, state quota and category rules are applied as notified. The exact structure, marking scheme, mode and schedule are published each year by the Himachal Pradesh Takniki Shiksha Board in its admission notification and prospectus.
