Institute of Engineering and Management Joint Entrance Exam

The test is an objective, aptitude-style paper that checks the ground the candidate is expected to have covered before entering the programme applied for: school-level science and mathematics for engineering entry, and language, reasoning and quantitative aptitude for management entry. Candidates register through the institute's admission portal, sit the paper in the mode announced for that cycle, and are then called for the remaining stages, which for management programmes usually include a personal interview or group discussion before a final merit list is drawn. Admission is to programmes run at the institute's campuses, and seats may also be filled from the West Bengal state joint entrance ranking or from recognised national test scores, which means an applicant often has more than one route to the same seat.
