Overview

The paper is objective and multiple-choice and is built around three broad areas: verbal ability and reading comprehension, quantitative ability, and logical or analytical reasoning. The management paper and the computer applications paper differ in emphasis, with the latter weighted towards mathematics and computer-related aptitude. Candidates register online, sit the test in the mode announced for the cycle, and receive a scorecard that they then submit to individual colleges, which conduct their own selection steps such as group discussion, personal interview and profile assessment before making an offer. Because the test is run by an association of colleges rather than by the state government, admission through it is to management quota and association seats at member institutions, separate from the government seat process run by the state authority. The number of sections, time allowed, marking scheme and any negative marking are stated in the official bulletin.
