Overview

Where a university still conducts its own law entrance test, the paper is usually objective and covers legal aptitude and awareness, English language and comprehension, logical and analytical reasoning, general knowledge and current affairs, and in postgraduate papers the core subjects of the law curriculum such as constitutional law, contracts, criminal law and jurisprudence. The number of questions, the duration and the negative marking rule are announced in the university admission notification. Where admission has moved to the national test, candidates register with the National Testing Agency, choose the university and programme in their application, and are then admitted through the university's own counselling and merit list. Separate common tests exist for the national law universities. The applicable route, seat matrix and reservation rules are published each year by the university concerned.
