Overview

The test is an objective paper of multiple choice questions taken in a single sitting, and the council announces the number of questions, the duration and the marking scheme in its information brochure for each admission cycle. The syllabus is drawn from the undergraduate agriculture curriculum and covers subjects such as agronomy, soil science, horticulture, plant protection, animal science, agricultural economics and extension, with the agribusiness stream also testing basic quantitative and general reasoning ability. Results produce a state merit list which feeds into centralised online counselling, where candidates fill in preferences for universities and specialisations and are allotted seats in successive rounds. The participating institutions are the state agricultural universities of Maharashtra together with their constituent and affiliated agricultural colleges, along with recognised private colleges within that system.
