The process is conducted online. Candidates register on the state cell portal, pay the prescribed fee, upload documents for verification, and are placed in merit lists prepared separately for candidates holding a national graduate aptitude test score and for other eligible candidates in the order laid down by the admission rules. They then fill and lock preferences of institutes and specialisations and receive allotment through successive rounds, followed by reporting and confirmation of admission at the allotted institute. The seats covered are the master of technology and master of engineering places in government, aided, university and private unaided engineering institutions across Maharashtra. Reservation, home university and state level seat rules, and the conditions for candidates from outside Maharashtra are applied at the allotment stage in accordance with the government resolutions in force.
