The paper is objective and multiple choice, generally covering general knowledge and current affairs, reasoning and mental ability, language ability in Hindi and English, and questions on teaching aptitude and general awareness of education and school practice. The test is conducted online at centres across Madhya Pradesh, with a fixed duration and a marking scheme published in the rule book issued with the notification. In some years the board conducts related teacher training entrance tests, such as those for the
diploma in elementary education or for integrated BEd programmes, on the same platform, so candidates must apply under the correct course code. After the result the higher education department opens online counselling with registration, choice filling, allotment rounds, document verification and reporting, followed by college level counselling for seats left vacant. Candidates should take the syllabus, question count, duration and negative marking rules only from the official rule book for the relevant year.
