Overview

The examination is computer-based and consists of multiple-choice questions drawn from the candidate's own broad speciality group, so a candidate who trained in general medicine answers a medicine-group paper and one from general surgery answers a surgery-group paper, with the questions covering the feeder speciality and the super speciality courses that stem from it. Candidates register on the conducting body's portal, choose the group and the courses they want to be considered for, sit the paper at an allotted centre, and receive a result used only for admission in that academic session. Ranking is then used by the Medical Counselling Committee in online rounds with registration, choice filling, allotment, reporting and mop-up stages. The grouping of feeder qualifications to courses has been revised in past cycles, which directly affects which papers a candidate may attempt, so the current bulletin must be read rather than an older one.
