Overview

SLAT is a computer based objective test of multiple choice questions taken in a single session, and in recent cycles the university has offered more than one test date from which a candidate may choose. The paper checks aptitude rather than legal knowledge acquired in advance, and covers logical reasoning, legal reasoning, analytical reasoning, reading comprehension and English language ability, and general knowledge including current affairs. The university publishes the number of questions, the duration and the marking scheme in the admission bulletin for each cycle. A qualifying score is only the first stage: shortlisted candidates then register separately with the individual Symbiosis Law School they want and go through a further selection process, which has typically included a writing ability test and a personal interaction before the final merit list is drawn.
