Candidates must have passed class 12 or an equivalent examination from a recognised board, and any stream, whether arts, science, commerce or vocational, is generally accepted, since the test measures design aptitude rather than subject knowledge. Students appearing in the class 12 examination in the current year may apply provisionally, subject to submitting the result within the deadline the institute sets. Postgraduate or diploma programmes at the institute require the corresponding higher qualification instead.
