Telangana State Law Common Entrance Test

The test is an objective examination and, contrary to a common misdescription, it does not consist of separate papers in civil, criminal and constitutional law. It assesses general awareness and current affairs, general knowledge with mental ability and reasoning, and an aptitude for the study of law that is tested through basic legal principles and their application, so no prior study of law is assumed. The five-year and three-year streams take papers built on the same broad areas, pitched at the level appropriate to school leavers and to graduates respectively. Ranks are used to fill convener quota seats in law colleges across Telangana through the state counselling process, covering the integrated five-year law degree, the three-year law degree and, through the associated postgraduate test, the master of laws programme in participating institutions.
