Telangana State Polytechnic Common Entrance Test

The test is an objective paper set on the class 10 syllabus followed in Telangana, covering mathematics, physics and chemistry, with the physics and chemistry portion treated as a single science component. Questions are multiple choice and are pitched at secondary school level, so no polytechnic or intermediate level preparation is assumed. Ranks from the test are used by the technical education board to allot seats in diploma programmes in branches such as civil, mechanical, electrical, electronics and computer engineering, along with the non-engineering diploma courses offered by participating institutions. Seat allotment is done through web-based counselling with certificate verification, and the reservation and special category rules notified by the state government are applied at that stage rather than in the test itself.
