Refundable deposits and potential extra charges depend on specific circumstances, and students are encouraged to explore eligibility for financial support on the official IIT Kharagpur website.

Eligibility

A bachelor's degree in any discipline is the general requirement, though a reasonable comfort with mathematics, statistics or programming is expected given the analytical core of the diploma, and the institute may specify a minimum qualifying mark for each admission cycle. Selection is based on performance in a qualifying national-level management or analytics-focused entrance test, followed by a written test, case exercise or personal interview conducted by the institute, with academic record and, for some applicants, relevant work experience also weighed in. Because the entrance cut-off and the exact selection process are decided separately for every admission cycle rather than remaining fixed, an applicant should rely on the current year's own notification. Any category-based relaxation follows applicable government norms.
