IIT Mandi Admission 2026 FAQs

Ques. How is an integrated MBA at IIT Mandi?

Ans. The Integrated MBA at IIT Mandi is a 5-year program that mixes engineering with management, ideal for students aiming for tech-driven careers. It covers core engineering in the early years and management subjects later, with a focus on innovation and entrepreneurship. Placements are growing, with companies like TCS, Deloitte, and startups hiring mainly in IT and consulting. While salaries are competitive, they may be lower than top MBA institutes.

Ques. How hard is it to get into IIT Mandi, and what should I aim for in JEE Advanced?

Ans. Admission to IIT Mandi is through JEE Advanced just like all IITs. The closing rank can be different by branch, but for popular branches like CSE, students usually need a rank within the top 2000–3000. For branches like Civil or Mechanical, student can get in with a lower rank. So your JEE Advanced rank matters a lot.

Ques. What is the branch change policy at IIT Mandi, and how realistic is it?

Ans. IIT Mandi allows branch change after the first year based on your CGPA. If students start with a less preferred branch but want to switch to CSE or EE, you’ll likely need a CGPA of around 9.5+. It’s tough, because many students aim for branch change, so the competition is high. But it’s possible if you’re dedicated in your first year.
