History
The university first opened in 1863, as the Bryant and Stratton National Business College. In 1949, it became a non-profit institute. In 1964, it was accredited by NECHE. In the same year, the university became a 4-year school and offered a blend of Business and Liberal Arts courses. In the year 1935, the school moved from downtown Providence to the city’s East Side and became Bryant College of Business Administration. The college moved from Providence to its current location in Smithfield, Rhode Island in 1971.
In 2004, the College became a University with two colleges and in 2012, it was re-classified as NCAA Division I.
