History

Saint Joseph's University is one of the most popular research-oriented universities. The University was established in 1781 as the Saint Joseph's College by the Jesuits group. The University is part of the Universities named after Saint Joseph, Father of Jesus. During the Civil War era, the university was the centre of training and education.

Saint Joseph's University played a crucial role in training of military during the World Wars. Over the years the university has grown to be the beacon of knowledge in the region. In 2022, the university acquired the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and renamed it the University of Sciences.
