Overview
Banaras Hindu University Postgraduate Entrance Test (BHU-PET) was an earlier entrance examination associated with admission to postgraduate programmes at Banaras Hindu University. The university no longer uses BHU-PET as the regular entrance route for postgraduate admissions.
For the 2026-27 academic session, regular postgraduate admissions at Banaras Hindu University are based on scores obtained in the Common University Entrance Test (Postgraduate), or CUET-PG 2026. Candidates who appear in CUET-PG 2026 and meet the programme-specific eligibility requirements can apply for postgraduate admission through the university's Common Allotment Program (CAP-PG).
BHU offers postgraduate programmes across subjects and disciplines, and eligibility differs by programme. Candidates must check the required qualifying degree, subject combination and other conditions for the particular programme they wish to enter. The admission process is separate from the CUET-PG examination itself: appearing in CUET-PG does not by itself secure admission to BHU.
Therefore, students seeking current BHU postgraduate admission should not treat BHU-PET as a current entrance examination. The applicable admission route for regular PG programmes is CUET-PG followed by the BHU CAP-PG registration and seat-allocation process.
