CBSE Class Twelve Board Exam Eligibility Criteria

The examination is taken by students who have completed class 11 and are enrolled in class 12 at a school affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education, and who have been registered by the school within the board's deadlines. Candidates must have studied the subjects prescribed by the board, including the required languages and elective subjects, and must meet the attendance requirement that board rules lay down for regular students, with relaxation in the circumstances the board specifies. Private candidates may appear in the categories the board permits, including those repeating, improving or completing subjects from an earlier year. The exact attendance requirement, subject rules, registration deadlines and fees are given in the board's official examination bye-laws and circulars.
