EMAT is meant for candidates who hold a bachelor's degree from a recognised university in any discipline, and most accepting institutes additionally expect a period of full-time work experience, since the programmes it leads to are designed for working professionals. Candidates in the final year of a bachelor's degree may be permitted to apply in some cycles, subject to producing their result before admission. Institutes may also accept scores from other recognised management entrance tests in place of this one, under the conditions they publish. The minimum qualifying marks, the length of work experience required, any age condition, category relaxations and the documents needed at the time of admission are laid down by the conducting body and the individual institutes in their official notifications.
