Karnataka 2nd PUC mid-term exams will be held from Dec. 9 to Dec. 23, 2021. This update was announced on Nov. 20, 2021.
On Nov. 15, 2021, DPUE, Karnataka proposed various changes in the Karnataka 2nd PUC exam pattern.
Karnataka SSLC Exam Pattern
Karnataka SSLC exams are conducted in MCQ format, with each paper carrying a maximum of 120 marks. The language exam has 40 MCQ questions for each language, and students receive OMR sheets to answer them. The new exam duration is 1.5 hours.
KSEEB has not yet revealed the exact topic-wise and subject-wise weightage for the new pattern. The topic-wise weightage followed till 2021 is given below.

Karnataka SSLC Exam Pattern: Mathematics
Many chapters have been excluded from the Mathematics syllabus after a 30% reduction, and these will not be taught in school. The board officials have approved the revised syllabus, and it will be uploaded on the website soon.
With fewer topics, the per-chapter weightage will increase. The maximum marks for any paper will not change. Each paper carries 100 marks, including theory, practical, and internal assessment.

Karnataka SSLC Exam Pattern: Social Science
There are 5 subjects in the SSLC Social Science exam. In the 100-mark paper, History and Geography carry the maximum weightage, while Economics and Sociology carry the minimum.
English remains a compulsory language paper of 100 marks. Candidates can choose Business Studies as an optional or elective subject, but passing in it is mandatory. The minimum pass marks for every paper is 35%, and the aggregate pass marks is also 35%.

The Social Science paper in Karnataka SSLC is for 80 marks. It covers History, Political Science, Sociology, Geography, Economics, and Business Studies.

Karnataka SSLC Exam Pattern: English
English language and literature has three sections: Reading, Writing, and Grammar. The writing section carries the maximum weightage and is also a scoring section.
Candidates must write letters to the editor, other formal and informal letters, notices, and messages. Important topics include Reading Comprehension, Punctuations, Noun, Articles, Adjectives, Verbs, Prepositions, Conjunction, Tenses, Sentences, Transformation of Sentences, and Vocabulary.

Karnataka 2nd PUC exam syllabus has been slashed by 30% for the academic year 2021-22. Students can check the revised syllabus on the official website of the Board.

Karnataka PUC II Exam Pattern: Science Stream
The science stream has a total of 6 subjects, including the compulsory language paper, optional paper, and elective paper. The total marks for each paper is 100.
Apart from Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics, students can choose Biology as an optional subject for PCM-major and vice versa for PCB-major. The option for the language paper remains the same.
Karnataka PUC II Exam Pattern: Commerce Stream
The commerce stream has 3 main subjects: Accountancy, Economics, and Business Studies. The language paper is compulsory, and students can select the second language as the optional fifth subject.
The syllabus for Economics, if reduced, will follow the same pattern for commerce as well as arts stream.
Karnataka PUC II Exam Pattern: Arts Stream
There are mainly 5 compulsory subjects in the Arts stream. Students can keep psychology, home science, language paper, etc., as optional papers.
History, Political Science, Geology, Geography, and Economics are the main subjects. Each paper is of 100 marks, and it is necessary to pass in both compulsory and optional subjects.
Karnataka Board: Revised Syllabus
Karnataka 2nd PUC and SSLC exam syllabus has been slashed by 30%. The pattern of reduction is similar to CBSE and national level competitive exams like NEET and JEE Main.
The syllabus revision follows this pattern to benefit candidates aspiring for national level entrance examinations. If the syllabus of the two exams were different, students would find it difficult to complete both syllabi in a short time, as half of the academic year has already been completed.
