Undergraduate engineering entry requires a pass in class 12 or an equivalent examination from a recognised board with physics and mathematics as compulsory subjects, along with chemistry, biotechnology, biology or an approved equivalent as the third subject, and English. Other programmes offered by the university carry their own subject requirements at the qualifying level. Candidates appearing for the qualifying examination in the same year may usually apply and must produce the result before admission is confirmed.
