Admission to undergraduate programmes at Tezpur University is based on the undergraduate common university entrance test, in which candidates take the subject papers prescribed for the programme they want, while admission to most postgraduate programmes is based on the postgraduate common university entrance test in the relevant subject paper. For research programmes, and for programmes outside the scope of those national tests, the university conducts its own subject-based written test followed by an interview, and it also considers national
fellowship and qualifying test scores where its ordinances allow. Merit lists are prepared by the university from the relevant test score, and seats are allotted through counselling conducted by the university with reservation applied as prescribed for a central institution. Candidates should check the programme-wise admission route in the university prospectus for the year.
