Yeshiva University History
A cheder-style elementary school called Etz Chaim Yeshiva was founded in 1886 and located on the Lower East Side of Manhattan and it was established along the lines of the Eastern European Yeshivas. Later in the year 1928, the Yeshiva established Yeshiva College which offers both upper-level yeshiva education as well as a secular university curriculum that awards a bachelor's degree.
Yeshiva U obtained its university status in 1945 and in the next few decades many new schools as well as divisions were opened. During the 1950s, the Stern College for Women, Albert Einstein College of Medicine, the Graduate School of Education and the Humanities were also established.

Founded in 1886, Yeshiva University (YU) is a US News top 100 research university in New York City. YU serves over 7,000 students across three undergraduate schools and seven graduate and professional schools, including the Cardozo School of Law, the Katz School of Science and Health, the Wurzweiler School of Social Work, the Ferkauf School of Psychology, and renowned affiliates such as the Albert Einstein College of Medicine.

The Katz School welcomes applications from international students. The school takes a holistic approach to admissions and seeks students with intellectual curiosity, a capacity for rigorous academic work and a commitment to their field of study.
All applicants must meet the academic requirements for their specific degree program, including a minimum GPA and any prerequisite knowledge or coursework. International students will need to satisfy the same academic criteria as domestic students and must demonstrate proficiency in the English language.
Evidence can be shown through completion of the TOEL IBT exam, IELTS, or the Duolingo English Test (DET) with the following minimum requirements: TOEFL: 85; IELTS: 6.5; Duolingo: 115; PTE: 61. Tests must be taken no more than two years prior to the date of application.
Applications for 2025/26 are submitted online and will be accepted on a rolling basis. Application requirements include a completed online application, a USD 50 application fee, transcripts (in English) from all universities and colleges attended, a statement of purpose, a resume/CV, and proof of English proficiency.

The Katz School currently offers the STEM Fellows program, which reduces total tuition to USD 30,000 for the entire graduate degree. In addition to the scholarship, STEM Fellows receive industry mentorship through their studies and have the opportunity to showcase and publish their research at the Katz School Annual Symposium.
STEM Fellows have conducted research, completed internships and landed jobs at major companies including IBM, BlackRock, Bank of NY Mellon, Standard & Poor's, Merck, American Eagle Outfitters, New York City MTA, New York Stem Cell Foundation, Digitas North America, Radware, Kantar Health, Lucerna and more.
The STEM Fellows program is open to both U.S. and international students. Applicants are automatically considered for the STEM Fellows program at the time of their application, no additional application is needed. STEM Fellows may apply external scholarships (e.g., Fulbright, NSF, government support) towards their tuition but may not combine other scholarships from Yeshiva University or the Katz School with the STEM Fellows scholarship.
