The examination is an objective, multiple choice test designed to assess general management aptitude rather than any specialised undergraduate syllabus. It usually covers quantitative ability and data interpretation, logical and analytical reasoning, English language and comprehension, and general awareness including business and current affairs, so that applicants from different degree backgrounds can be compared on a common basis. The number of questions, the duration of the paper and the marking scheme, including any deduction for wrong answers, are set out in the information brochure published by the university for that cycle. Results are declared as scores and ranks, and shortlisted candidates are called for the next stage of selection as announced. Seats are filled through the university's own counselling, in which candidates complete
certificate verification and pay the prescribed fee, with reservation and state category rules applied as notified in the prospectus for the relevant admission year.
