The IIT Madras Humanities and Social Sciences Entrance Examination (HSEE) is a national-level test for admission to a five-year integrated Master of Arts programme in Economics, English, or Development Studies. It is designed for students who have completed or are completing their higher secondary education and wish to pursue a multidisciplinary liberal arts degree at one of India’s premier institutions. The programme combines rigorous academic training with exposure to social sciences, preparing graduates for careers in academia, policy, media, and development sectors.
Eligibility Criteria
Open to Indian nationals who have passed the 10+2 examination or its equivalent with at least 60% aggregate marks. Candidates appearing in the qualifying examination in the current year are also eligible. For SC, ST, and PwD categories, the minimum requirement is 55% aggregate.
The examination is open to all streams of study in the qualifying examination.
