Laramie has numerous shops and restaurants offering items made by local artisans. As one of the best main streets in the country, downtown is filled with public art and local businesses.

You don't have to live in a big city to have access to the world. The University of Wyoming Art Museum and the Buchanan Center for the Performing Arts bring artists from around the world to Laramie. The event venues at the Laramie Plains Civic Center also host a variety of arts and entertainment.

Laramie is easily navigable in comparison to many larger cities. Having your own vehicle is useful if you want to travel outside Laramie, but if you're staying mostly in town it isn't entirely necessary. Many of Laramie's citizens find that they prefer to travel by bicycle around town.

There are paratransit services available. Another option is the SafeRide on-call public transportation services which are fare free and open to the public. The University of Wyoming Transit & Parking Services provide a variety of shuttle bus options to get around campus and across all parts of Laramie.

If you don't have your own vehicle, the most direct route to get to Laramie is to fly in to Laramie Regional Airport. A flight from Denver International Airport to Laramie takes around 40 minutes and the Laramie Regional Airport is approximately 6 miles or 10 km from the UW campus. After arriving at the Laramie Regional Airport, you can have a friend drive you to campus or contact other alternative transportation options like one of the local taxi services or use UW's SafeRide service.

If you have time for a more scenic route to Laramie, another popular option when traveling to Laramie from Denver International Airport is to use the Groome Transportation shuttle. This reasonably priced shuttle transportation service is available to stop at Denver International Airport, Fort Collins, Cheyenne and Laramie locations. You can schedule a stop in Laramie at UW's Washakie Dining Center, Laramie Regional Airport, Hilton Garden Inn, Holiday Inn or other specific addresses in town.
