If one has a choice of SCMHRD (all branches) and TISS, which one should one go for?

It would certainly depend on whether ROI is an important factor to you or not. SCHMRD and TISS both come under the top tier colleges. TISS doesn’t provide an MBA degree but still one of the major HR companies visit the institute for final placements. You need to understand that what you’re paying and what you’re getting in return matters a lot from a longer term perspective. The other benefit that you get if you are studying at TISS is their small batch size and less competition. Mind you, I am not saying that competition is not healthy but sometimes, when you’re so focused on gettting the highest package offered and competing against 400 students just like you, you might miss out on the learning experiences.

How far behind is SIBM, SCMHRD, MDI vis-a-vis XLRI/TISS HR?

There is no scale to measure. But if we go by ranking and students' perspectives regarding these colleges. After XLRI/TISS HR, comes MDI followed by SIBM then SCMHRD based on NIRF ranking. Colleges NIRF Rank XLRI 8 SIBM 17 MDI Gurgaon 13 Based on placements, XLRI is the best in HR placements. It also witnesses placements across the world. If you want to pursue a career in Social work and HR then TISS Mumbai is the best. TISS also offers MA programs and it does not offer MBA. MDI Gurgaon and SCMHRD is also a better option to consider. They have a good alumni base and decent placements at XLRI and TISS.

I want to do an MBA either from FMS Delhi, JBIMS or TISS Mumbai because I can't afford a loan. Is it a wise decision? I'm a working aspirant.

Pursuing an MBA from a top college like an IIM can provide many benefits, such as excellent campus life, an increased likelihood of getting a desired job, and boosting the overall value of your career. It’s viable to obtain a loan to pay for it because the interest rates are often low, and there is a grace period before repayment begins. IIMs should be given more priority than colleges like FMS, TISS, JBIMS, or XLRI as they have more brand value and can offer better opportunities in terms of networking and job prospects. However, it is a personal decision that should consider your career goals, financial situation, and personal preferences.

How different are the career paths of individuals who pursue their MBA in HR from XIMB/SIBM/SCMHRD as compared to those from XLRI/TISS/MDI?

The answer can be divided into two main parts: Curriculum and Placements. In terms of Curriculum, TISS is rated as having the best. Colleges whose core degree is not HR will be at a disadvantage when it comes to curriculum. In terms of Placements, XLRI is ranked as having the best package and profile offerings, followed by a tie between TISS and SCMHRD. The colleges whose core is not HR will not offer as good a package post-MBA as compared to the colleges with core HR competencies. In terms of packages offered, XLRI can be ranked the highest, followed by SCMHRD and TISS in a tie, and then MDI, SIBM, and XIMB.

Is HR at MDI better than TISS/SCMHRD? Also, does XLRI offer the best course in HR?

It is hard to compare one specific major or stream but whatever is in the public domain the general ranking of these three colleges in HR domain quality-wise and RoI-wise is given below in a table. The exams are not much tough mostly practical based connected to our field work I usually light all my faculties they all are good well experienced in their field always welcoming yeah few faculty I don't like because they have just to me but no problem overall 9 after 10 facilities are good here the ratio of faculty to student is around 1 ratio 5 you can say

Yeah the think which I find here is there is no clubs inside the colleges social life is good but again the campus is too small so there is no such campus life for studying it's the best but for regular activities and extra things this college might be feel small

How are the hostels at TISS Mumbai?

As a general student we don't get hostel hostels are very good in 76 thousand per year we get we get food plus accommodation but due to not getting hostel I am living in pg which charges me around 12 k per month also my food cost come against it 8000 around so yeah it cost me 20k to levae and complete this degree

TISS Mumbai is spread across 21 acres. The campus provides different facilities to the students, including a library, sports activities, cultural fests, and competitions. The university also offers various co-curricular and extracurricular activities.

The library offers a very relaxed atmosphere where students work and also socialise. There is a separate reading area for students.

As part of the curriculum, students go for fieldwork to village and slum areas. The academics are challenging, with a strong focus on interdisciplinary social sciences and hands-on fieldwork.

The campus has a dining hall with hygienic food options. It is also a place where students discuss their ideas. Sports tournaments such as basketball and football are conducted every year.

There is an on-campus medical unit with 24-hour emergency support and an ambulance service. The institute has a vibrant student community with a wide range of extracurricular activities, including clubs, committees, and events.

TISS Mumbai has two 7-story hostel buildings, one for girls and one for boys, in a new campus. These hostels accommodate Indian and international students. The 7th floor of each hostel is reserved for international students, while the rest of the building has the same facilities. Students have plenty of opportunities to interact and make friends.

Hostel fees for SC/ST students are INR 18,000 per semester, payable in two instalments of INR 9,000. Mess fees are INR 20,000 per semester.
