Medical Colleges Accepting NEET Score for NRI and Management Quota

NRI quota medical admission lets Indian students with a qualifying NEET score secure an MBBS seat at a private or deemed medical college at a much lower closing rank, in exchange for a substantially higher fee, typically ₹20 lakh to ₹60 lakh a year. Up to 15% of seats in private colleges may be reserved for NRI candidates, and management quota seats work on a similar principle at a lower fee.

What Are NRI and Management Quota Seats?

Private medical colleges and deemed universities divide their MBBS seats into three groups. Government quota seats are surrendered to the state and filled at a regulated lower fee. Management quota seats are filled by the college through state counselling on NEET merit at a higher fee. NRI quota seats, up to 15% of the intake, are reserved for non-resident Indians, their children or wards, and in many states for candidates sponsored by an NRI relative, at the highest fee.

Who Is Eligible for the NRI Quota?

Eligibility is defined by state rules and by Supreme Court guidelines, which require that the candidate must be an NRI, or the child or ward of an NRI, and that the NRI must be a genuine sponsor. Many states allow a sponsored category where a close relative living abroad, such as a parent, sibling, uncle or first cousin, sponsors the candidate's education.

A valid NEET score at or above the qualifying percentile for your category is compulsory in every case; NRI status does not exempt anyone from NEET.

What Do NRI and Management Quota Seats Cost?

NRI fees are often fixed in US dollars, so the rupee equivalent changes with the exchange rate. Fee regulatory committees in each state approve the fee for each quota, and colleges must publish it.

How Does the Counselling Process Work?

NRI and management quota seats in state private colleges are allotted through the state counselling authority in dedicated rounds, on NEET merit among the candidates who have registered for that quota. Deemed university NRI seats are allotted by MCC. In both cases, you must register separately for the quota, upload the required NRI documents, and pay a higher registration deposit.

• Upload NRI proof: passport, visa or residence permit, embassy certificate, and sponsorship affidavit where allowed
• Participate in choice filling and allotment rounds for the quota
• Report to the college with originals and pay the first-year fee within the deadline

What Are the Risks to Watch For?

Avoid any agent who promises a seat before counselling or asks for payment outside the college's official fee. Seats are allotted only through counselling on NEET merit, and any direct admission outside the process is illegal and can be cancelled by the NMC. Check the college's recognition for the current batch, the approved fee for the quota, and the refund policy if you withdraw before the cutoff date.
